TLA Scholarship Opportunities

The following scholarships are available from the Tennessee Library Association.

  • Dr. Edwin S. Gleaves Scholarship
The Edwin S. Gleaves Scholarship, established in 2004, offers $1,500 annually to assist library and/or information science students with educational expenses such as tuition, books, or technology.
  • TLA Conference Internship Program
Each year, the Tennessee Library Association selects interns to assist with its annual conference. Being a TLA conference intern provides a wonderful opportunity to network with colleagues, develop professional contacts and experience the TLA annual conference. Conference interns complete four hours of work at the conference as assigned by the TLA Scholarship Committee in exchange for waived registration fees for the TLA annual conference, a free ticket to the All-Conference Reception,  a $100 stipend to be used as desired to defray costs of attending the conference and formal recognition at the conference.
  • Tennsco PLS Scholarship
This scholarship provides a library director or branch manager with $750 to attend the TLA Annual Conference, including conference meals, conference reception and the cost of the hotel.
The Public Library Section of the Tennessee Library Association is announcing its annual scholarship to pay a library director or branch manager’s expenses to the April 2014 TLA Annual Conference.  The scholarship will secure full pre-conference and conference registration, tickets to all meals offered at the conference, the conference reception, and three nights stay at the Embassy Suites Hotel/Convention Center in Murfreesboro.  Any remaining monies from the $750 will be given to the recipient to help offset travel expenses.  The conference will be held April 30-May 2, 2014.  The scholarship recipient will be expected to attend all events paid for by the scholarship.
